About Me

I’m Ben. I write. I take pictures. I am a musician. May be a bit of a geek.

Currently I’m a junior in college. I’m majoring in Computer Information Systems and Business Administration. Soon I will be an MBA student with a focus on management. But that doesn’t even start to describe who I am and what I can do.

I am a bassist. I play upright and electric bass and have played in rock bands, jazz ensembles, and pits for musicals. Currently I am the bassist in Red Beard. I have led my own jazz trio in the past and have played jazz since I was 15. I’ve played in pits for Baldwin-Wallace College for the shows: The Wild Party and Chess.

I am a photographer. I love taking pictures of the arts. Music, theatre, dance, etc. I have a passion for the arts, and I believe in the power of the arts as a driving force in a culture. Recently I’ve been getting into using strobes as a source of lighting.  Photojournalism is also very interesting to me.

I design and manage websites. I am the IT Director for WBWC 88.3 FM in Cleveland, Ohio. I have redesigned and currently manage the website. We are well known for being one of the oldest (52 Years Old) college stations in the country, as well as for our Summer Marathon Series. I also designed and currently manage The Lower Castlereagh Community Group website. Over a spring break I went to Belfast with my Honors class and I worked with this brilliant group of people. They are dedicated to educating their community, and creating peace and reconciliation efforts within their area of Northern Ireland. The website aims to help educate and provide a place for community members to come together.

I am an audio engineer. Live sound, tracking and mixing songs and producing are all second nature to me. I can remember running sound in elementary school for the live news broadcast to all classrooms. Microphones, speakers, vinyl, anything audio related I love. I tracked and mixed my bands last album.

Technically I have worked with corporate grade Cisco and Foundry equipment. I can configure servers, routers, switches, access points and numerous other devices. Wireless network surveys, assessing security vulnerabilities, troubleshoot network problems, I’ve done all these things. If I don’t know how, I will figure it out. I can work my way around C++, HTML/CSS, Java, Visual Basic, MYSQL and PHP but I am not a programmer. I am comfortable with Windows, OS X and Linux.
